چکیده

Shear-driven flow between a rotating cylinder and stationary elliptical enclosure is studied in this paper. Two-dimensional time-dependent Navier–Stokes equations are solved using meshless method, where interpolations done with polyharmonic spline radial basis functions. The fluid analyzed for various aspect ratios of the ellipse eccentric placements inner cylinder. Contour plots vorticity streamlines, non-dimensional torque, angle eye primary vortex presented paper Reynolds numbers 200 2000. Formation Moffatt like vortices wide-gap region model observed, some benchmark data provided cases that simulated.

Numerical investigation of natural convection phenomena in uniformly heated trapezoidal Cylinder inside an elliptical Enclosure

A numerical study of the natural convection of the laminar heat transfers in the stationary state was developed in a horizontal ring and compared between a heated trapezoidal internal cylinder and a cold elliptical outer cylinder. This annular space is traversed by a Newtonian and incompressible fluid. The Prandtl number is set to 0.7 (air case) for different Rayleigh numbers. The system of equ...

Computation of Sound Generated by Flow over a Circular Cylinder: an Acoustic Analogy Approach*

The sound generated by viscous ow past a circular cylinder is predicted via the Lighthill acoustic analogy approach. The two dimensional ow eld is predicted using two unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solvers. Flow eld computations are made for laminar ow at three Reynolds numbers (Re = 1000, Re = 10; 000, and Re = 90; 000) and two di erent turbulent models at Re = 90; 000. The unsteady ...

Rapidly rotating cylinder flow with an oscillating sidewall.

We present numerical simulations of a flow in a rapidly rotating cylinder subjected to a time-periodic forcing via axial oscillations of the sidewall. When the axial oscillation frequency is less than twice the rotation frequency, inertial waves in the form of shear layers are present. For very fast rotations, these waves approach the form of the characteristics predicted from the linearized in...
